Unfortunately, necessity requires me still to keep a Transferwise account - a FinTech.
There are many issues with Transferwise, one of which is logging in.
To log in, you enter username and password, complete a Google captcha, enter a 2FA app code, and then check your email for a link to follow, which opens a browser tab which tells you that you have logged in, and moves the original browser tab to the logged in state.
Yes, it’s awful.
Now, this process today has changed.
When you follow the link in the email, the log in confirmation page now has a big button “CONTINUE”, which causes the Transferwise site to load in that same tab - so you now have two tabs pointing at Transferwise, the original you opened to log in, and the new tab.
Recentlyish, Transferwise in their minute wisdom implemented a five minute idle time-out.
It turns out this is running in every tab you have the Transferwise site in, and so after five minutes of working in the new tab the log in page gave me, I was on clicking a button abruptly and without warning or message as to what had happened returned to the Transferwise home page, in the logged out state.
I then looked at the other tab, and it had logged me out for being idle.
